ZIV – German Bicycle Industry Joins the Coalition for Cyclist Safety

Berlin, 21. Januar 2026 | Der Branchenverband ZIV – Die Fahrradindustrie ist der Coalition for Cyclist Safety, kurz C4CS, beigetreten. Die internationale Initiative bringt Organisationen aus dem gesamten Mobilitätsbereich zusammen, um zu mehr Sicherheit im Straßenverkehr für Fahrradfahrende und andere ungeschützte Verkehrsteilnehmende beizutragen.

By joining the Coalition for Cyclist Safety, ZIV aims to contribute industry insight and engage in cross-sector collaboration focused on helping reduce crashes involving cyclists and advancing solutions that support safer and more connected mobility.

ZIV represents the interests of bicycle and e-bike manufacturers, suppliers, and service providers in Germany. The association is committed to strengthening cycling as a core element of sustainable mobility and to supporting initiatives that improve conditions for people who cycle in everyday traffic.

The Coalition for Cyclist Safety brings organizations together to collaborate on shared road safety goals, aligned with Vision Zero principles and driven by collective action across industry, technology, and mobility stakeholders.

About the ZIV
The ZIV represents the interests of and is a strong voice for the Germany bicycle industry. As an industry association, the ZIV brings together and represents around 140 member companies vis-à-vis lawmakers in the EU and Germany, the German government, authorities, media, institutions and organisations. In 2024, around ninety percent of the bicycles and e-bikes produced in Germany were from ZIV member companies, which export 1.3 million units every year in addition to sales on the domestic market. The ZIV represents established companies and start-ups, manufacturers and retailers (including importers and wholesalers) as well as players from the entire bicycle ecosystem.

The Coalition for Cyclist Safety is a coalition of leading experts and organizations from the cycling, telecom, automotive, technology, and public sectors, working together to improve road safety through cross-sector collaboration. By aligning efforts and resources across these sectors, the Coalition aims to accelerate the deployment of V2X technology, with a focus on protecting cyclists and other Vulnerable Road Users. The Coalition actively supports the global »Vision Zero” initiative.
